“The moon is a ball” sounds like something a child might say. Yet it is also the plainest truth about the moon. For centuries, we have given it so many meanings: reunion, longing, farewell, and the passing of time. The moon keeps to its orbit; what changes is the heart of the person looking up.
The Mid-Autumn moon may be full, but our lives do not always feel complete. Its light can fall across a window and stir an old sorrow. I believe the God who created the moon holds all things together and carries us through life’s bitter days. When I take the Lord’s hand, I find the courage to begin again.
