《童子對弈》源於一次真實的見聞。

多年前，我看見兩個童子在石桌前對弈中國象棋。兩人全神貫注，一招一式都極為認真。對他們而言，那並不只是一盤棋，而是一場真正的交鋒。那份專注、那份不服輸的神情，以及少年特有的豪氣，深深觸動了我，也成為這篇作品的創作緣起。

寫作時，我並非單純描寫一場棋局，而是借棋盤映照古戰場，借兩位童子的想像，展現千軍萬馬的對陣與將帥運籌的氣勢。希望透過現實與想像交織的筆法，表現中華傳統文化中所蘊含的智慧、勇氣與謀略。

我更希望藉著這部作品，歌頌少年人的精神：不畏失敗，越挫越勇；勝不驕，敗不餒；跌倒了，再站起來；輸了一局，再來一盤。真正的成長，不在於從未失敗，而在於每一次失敗之後，仍然懷著豪情與勇氣，迎向下一場挑戰。

願每一位少年，都能在人生的棋局中，落子無悔，志氣長存。

One More Game Chess Players was inspired by a real moment I witnessed many years ago.

One day, I saw two young boys playing Chinese chess at a stone table in a neighborhood courtyard. They were completely absorbed in the game. Every move was deliberate, every exchange intensely contested. To them, it was far more than a board game—it was a battlefield. Their concentration, determination, and youthful courage left a lasting impression on me and became the inspiration for this work.

Rather than simply describing a chess match, I sought to transform the chessboard into an ancient battlefield, where every piece came alive with the spirit of strategy, courage, and honor. Through the interplay of reality and imagination, I hoped to portray the richness of Chinese chess as a reflection of traditional Chinese military wisdom and cultural heritage.

More importantly, this work is a tribute to the spirit of youth—the determination never to accept defeat, the courage to rise after every setback, and the resolve to face each new challenge with renewed confidence. Victory should never lead to arrogance, and defeat should never lead to discouragement. If you lose one game, set up the board and play another.

Life itself is much like a game of chess. What shapes our character is not an undefeated record, but the perseverance to stand up after every loss, make the next move with wisdom and courage, and continue forward without regret.

May every young heart carry this spirit throughout life’s journey, making each move with conviction, embracing every challenge with courage, and never losing the boldness to begin again.
